On 28 March, the Orzeł Cultural Integration Centre in Bolesławiec hosted an evening of Balkan music as part of the “Preserving from Oblivion – Culture, Traditions and Customs of Returnees from Bosnia” project. The programme included a concert by Kapela Herbutów, a performance by the Choir, and a tasting of pita and coffee.
“Preserving from Oblivion – Culture, Traditions and Customs of Returnees from Bosnia” is a continuation of a project launched in 2015 as a series of open meetings organised by the Association of Returnees from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends. Its aim is to pass history on to younger generations in an engaging way.
In 2016, the meetings were organised to mark the 70th anniversary of the return of Poles from Bosnia. This year’s project involves organising open meetings presenting the cultural and culinary richness of ancestral traditions. The project’s main objective is to familiarise participants with these traditions and preserve the memory of the history of Bosniaks, their traditions and local customs, as well as of the residents who made an important contribution to the history of Bolesławiec.
