The session was missing Mayor Piotr Roman, Secretary Jerzy Zieliński and Council Chairman Jarosław Kowalski. The result? Chaos. First, for a long time they tried to determine how the chair of the Infrastructure Committee should be elected. (Should it be done openly or by secret ballot?) Once this was finally settled, the committee meeting still had to take place. Which, of course, meant further breaks.
And when councillors were finally supposed to vote on the candidacy of Wojciech Kasprzyk, councillors from outside the mayoral Forum... ostentatiously left the room. It then turned out that there was no quorum. And Eugeniusz Kowalski, who was chairing Wednesday’s Council meeting, suspended the session.
In the end, the councillors failed to pass a single draft resolution. The session will resume on Friday.
Comment from councillor Dariusz Mucha:
The solution known as Councillor Wojciech Kasprzyk for committee chair cannot be imposed on us by force. If the mayor had been present, he would have decided to remove this item from the agenda and we would have continued with the proceedings. Today, the City is in total disarray. The mayor and secretary’s absence, along with the lack of a Council chairman, have caused the office to become completely paralysed. It is a horror. It has become clear how weak this administration is.
