The incident occurred on March 6, at around 3:50 p.m., in one of the shops in Jelenia Góra. The victim briefly left her handbag and went about her shopping. A 61-year-old woman noticed this and decided to take advantage of the opportunity. She stole the handbag along with the money. The victim estimated her losses at PLN 2,000.
A description of the woman was obtained from surveillance camera footage. It turned out that the suspect lived near the aforementioned shop. After a few minutes, the officers knocked on her door. The woman denied the theft. She was nervous, aggressive and under the influence of alcohol.
The 61-year-old woman was taken into police custody. She faces up to five years in prison.
