This year, ZEC is celebrating its 45th anniversary. Since 1998, the owner of 100 percent of the company's shares has been the Municipality of Bolesławiec. – Over the years, ZEC has undergone a series of modernizations. The company modernized its boilers, shut down the old boiler house, and connected new customers, including large ones, such as the military unit – informs the mayor of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman. In order to reduce pollutant emissions, the utility invested, among other things, in modernizing the flue-gas dedusting system at the Central Heating Plant, as well as modernizing and expanding the heating system.

In 2016, 100 heating substations were placed under monitoring. This year, the Bolesławiec Heating Utility plans to place the remaining 152 under monitoring.

– Monitoring makes it possible to analyze customers' needs and adjust production to the demand for heat. Implementing fault alarms on the network and at substations will significantly reduce transmission losses. In addition, the collected data enables investment decisions aimed at further optimizing the system. Remote reading of heat-meter data integrated with the billing program will also contribute to more efficient customer service. The system also makes it possible to respond immediately if disruptions occur in the operation of substations – emphasizes president Rafał Koronkiewicz.

It is worth recalling that connecting new customers in the Market Square and its immediate vicinity is one of the key tasks of the Bolesławiec Heating Utility. The elimination of household coal-fired heating stoves will reduce the so-called low-emission zone. This task was included in the “Low-Emission Economy Plan for the City of Bolesławiec” and in the Heating Utility's Strategy for 2015–2020. In 2016, a concept for supplying the Market Square with district heating was developed. The documentation will be completed by October this year. Construction of the distribution network around the Market Square, starting from the Magistracka Street side, is scheduled to begin in 2018. The first connections to the municipal heating network are planned for 2019.
