Reader:

I read about the reorganization of education in Bolesławiec—a major undertaking. However, the school districts are interesting, and right from the start I think that the City Council will subsidize children’s bus fares and launch a special route. For example: where is Kilińskiego, and where is Jana Pawła II?!

He added: “It is already clear that someone drew with a pencil on the city map. Or perhaps children from Chrobrego will travel to Jana Pawła II when they have a school on Słowackiego.”

The Bolesławiec resident means that under the law, the distance a student travels to school may not exceed 4 km. Otherwise, the municipality must provide transport.

We contacted Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec municipal authorities, who informed us that the new network of city schools was designed so that the aforementioned distance does not exceed even two kilometers anywhere.

She emphasized that changes are always possible, especially since the resolution on the draft adjustment of the network of public eight-year primary schools and middle schools to the new education system, adopted by the councilors during the February session, is a resolution expressing an intention. It still has to be reviewed by trade unions and the educational authorities.

More about what will happen to the city schools following the Law and Justice education reform can be found in the article: What the network of primary schools and middle schools in Bolesławiec will look like. We will certainly return to the subject.
