We often report on our pages that police officers have seized large quantities of drugs. Such reports are usually followed by—not particularly clever—comments like: “I wonder what the police do with these drugs?” Or suggestions that some kind of party is taking place at police headquarters or a police station. Recently, we wrote that officers from Bolesławiec detained a wanted person who had large quantities of methamphetamine on them. And, of course, there was a comment in this vein:
Where do all these drugs go afterward? What is the final stage for these drugs? But seriously, seriously.
“In 2016, as a result of operations carried out, a total of 82 cannabis plantations were dismantled and 11,100 plants were secured; two laboratories where narcotic drugs were produced were dismantled; and nearly 0.5 tonnes of various types of drugs were seized in total (including marijuana, amphetamine, methamphetamine, hashish, heroin and cocaine),” Paweł Petrykowski, spokesperson for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, tells istotne.pl .
He adds: “The drugs are secured as evidence for the proceedings being conducted. The court later orders their forfeiture by having them destroyed by an authorized entity designated by a regulation of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.”
