On February 9, at around 1 p.m., the man's family notified the police that the 39-year-old was missing. Police officers from the Criminal Division of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra began searching and determined that the man might have gone to the seaside to fish. It turned out that the man had appeared at the station in Jelenia Góra and had most likely boarded a train running between Wrocław and Poznań. Officers from the capital of Lower Silesia checked both the station and the train, but did not find the missing man.
Jelenia Góra police also received information that the man might have boarded a train to Gdańsk. The 39-year-old was not on that train either, but the train manager informed the officers that another train was heading to the seaside at the same time and would stop in Gdańsk at 10 p.m.
The officers from Jelenia Góra then asked their colleagues in Gdańsk for help. This time, they managed to find the missing man, who was placed under the care of doctors.
