Under the guidance of Małgorzata Orzoł, a Polish teacher, the students prepared a multimedia presentation about the life and work of Bolesław Leśmian and recited the great poet’s most beautiful works. In their presentation, they drew attention to his way of seeing the world and his incorporation of Henri Bergson’s philosophy.
The presentation was delivered by Maciej Hyjek, who pointed out that Leśmian’s favourite genre was the folk ballad. He showed that the poet used folk motifs and portrayed the lives of ordinary people in order to ask fundamental questions about the purpose of life, the meaning of toil, divine creation and the existence of evil. Maciej also drew attention to the language and style of the poems to highlight the poet’s multiculturalism.
The recited works added a sense of wonder and extraordinariness to the ceremony. It was a true lesson in beauty and sensitivity.
