Cameras operated by the Legnica City Hall captured the moment a police officer stopped traffic to help an elderly woman cross the road. “Most stories like this remain between the officer and the person involved,” say the police. “This time, the media noticed that police officers are people who primarily help, rather than chase.”
The incident took place on Saturday, January 14. Before 9:00 a.m., a traffic police officer saw an elderly woman crossing the road. The officer stopped the police car and activated the flashing lights to warn other road users of the danger, then… helped the senior citizen get to the other side of the road. Traffic resumed shortly afterward.
Police officers: “We are publishing this material not to boast, but to show that working in the police is primarily a service. Caring for citizens’ safety is our priority. No one was hurt in this incident, but if the woman had crossed the center of the road and stepped in front of oncoming vehicles, the outcome could have been tragic.”
