Officers from Nowogrodziec detained two men suspected of stealing a Mercedes. Both detainees are residents of Jelenia Góra County (aged 22 and 31).
According to the officers’ findings, the suspects were driving through Nowogrodziec gmina in the middle of the night when they skidded and damaged two wheels on their Mercedes, making it impossible for them to continue driving. They were looking for replacement wheels, so… they stole another car of the same make. They drove the stolen vehicle to where they had left their own car. But they did not reach the destination because... they skidded again, and the stolen Mercedes got stuck in the snow.
Both men were detained. They were caught while trying to remove the wheels from a vehicle that did not belong to them. The 31-year-old has already been convicted of car thefts. Both unlucky thieves face up to five years behind bars.
