In November, the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office announced that voivode Paweł Hreniak had decided to allocate funding for the purchase of ambulances for Lower Silesia. One of them went to the Bolesławiec ZOZ. The ceremonial handover of the gift took place on Tuesday, 27 December.

Voivode Paweł Hreniak:

This is the first of 16 ambulances that will be purchased with funds from the Lower Silesian Voivode. The money was saved over the course of the year through other activities. And we can hand over this extremely important equipment to the people of Lower Silesia. This ambulance will replace one that has already travelled 500,000 km, while the recommendations of the Ministry of Health state that ambulances should have 200,000 km on the clock. I wish all the residents of Bolesławiec County that this equipment serves them, but serves them as rarely as possible, because we should all be healthy.

Marshal Cezary Przybylski: “Bolesławiec County is the second-largest county in Lower Silesia, so the distances that both paramedics and doctors rushing to provide assistance must cover are quite considerable. A modern, efficient ambulance will certainly increase this sense of security.”

County head Karol Stasik mentioned that our county has 90,000 residents, two motorways and national road no. 94, as well as two military units—the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade and the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment—and a training ground where NATO units conduct exercises. “We are very pleased that the voivode took all these circumstances into account. I sincerely thank you for this gift,” the county head added, presenting Paweł Hreniak with what “is the salt of our land”—Bolesławiec pottery.

Finally, Nikolaj Lambrinow, director for medical care at the Bolesławiec ZOZ, spoke: “We will certainly make good use of this equipment. We have people who are very well prepared for the task: paramedics, doctors and drivers.”

As we read on the Bolesławiec County website:

Until now, the hospital’s Emergency Medical Service had four ambulances—the oldest from 2006 and the newest from 2011. By September 2016, the number of ambulance dispatches had reached 7,975, including as many as 1,289 to accidents. The ambulances of the Bolesławiec ZOZ had travelled a total of 194,041 km, including 72,460 km by specialist ambulances. Our hospital’s Emergency Medical Service consists of 18 doctors, 67 paramedics and four nurses. The team is headed by Nikolaj Lambrinow, and the ward nurse is Ewa Ditrich. The new vehicle is a fully equipped Fiat Ducato Maxi worth PLN 482,772, which will serve as a type “S” ambulance in the Emergency Medical Service.
