The Ministry of the Interior and Administration’s “Carbon Monoxide and Fire” campaign is under way. In 2015 alone, nearly 7,500 people were hospitalized because of fires or carbon monoxide poisoning. More than 500 people died in fires, while 50 died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. On Friday, a meeting was held at the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service with representatives of all volunteer fire brigades from Bolesławiec County. During the meeting, participants discussed, among other things, the dangers resulting from the improper use of solid-fuel furnaces, gas furnaces and cookers, as well as ventilation, exhaust and smoke ducts. Volunteer firefighters were asked to inform local residents about the dangers associated with carbon monoxide.
