An investigation has been opened into the murder of a woman and a man’s suicide; their bodies were found on December 9, 2016, in Lubin. The prosecutor’s office is conducting proceedings concerning:

  • the murder of Krystyna K. with a firearm on December 9
  • providing assistance to Ryszard P. in taking his own life.

On December 9, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lubin found the bodies of two people—a woman and a man—in two different locations within the city. Krystyna K.’s body was found on her property, near the house; Ryszard P.’s body was found in his apartment.

It was established that the direct cause of death for both the man and the woman was gunshot wounds inflicted with a firearm. In P.’s apartment, officers found several long firearms (hunting weapons) as well as handguns. Investigators determined that the woman and the man knew each other. In light of the evidence collected, the most likely version of events is that P. killed K. and then committed suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
