On Friday, December 9, officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police conducted the “Unprotected Road Users” operation, aimed at enforcing proper conduct in mutual relations between both drivers and pedestrians. As many as 32 pedestrians were fined for crossing the road in prohibited places.
Unlike drivers and car passengers, pedestrians have no protection whatsoever, and when struck by a vehicle traveling at more than 60 km/h, they practically have no chance of survival. Accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists and moped riders outside built-up areas are among the most serious.
