Last month, two shoplifting incidents occurred in Lubin. At the time, unknown perpetrators stole scratch cards from one of the shops (presumably hoping to win) and a mobile phone from another. The losses in both cases were estimated at nearly PLN 2,000.

Officers from the Criminal Division of the Lubin District Police Headquarters identified the perpetrators. They turned out to be two 19-year-old sisters from Legnica.

The sisters entered their chosen shop together. One of them kept the staff occupied in conversation while the other carried out the theft unnoticed. When scratch cards fell into their hands, they hoped to win. They carefully scratched off the stolen tickets. Some even turned out to be winners! However, in such cases, the stolen series is blocked and the prize cannot be collected.

Now, instead of collecting their winnings, both sisters could end up behind bars for as long as five years.
