Police officers from Pieńsk, after receiving information that a theft may have occurred in Ruszów, immediately went to the scene. On the way, they spotted the vehicle in which the suspect was believed to be traveling. The officers stopped his car. The 30-year-old driver had metal-cutting shears in the vehicle and... three full baskets of bread, as well as various small items, including a clay pot, a flower stand, and parts of a marble and metal cross.
The man claimed that he had received the bread from a friend who worked at a bakery, and that the remaining items belonged to him. But the truth came to light moments later: the duty officer informed the officers that he had just received a report of bread being stolen from outside one of the stores in Jagodzin.
The 30-year-old was arrested. Police determined that he had attempted to break into an outbuilding containing antiques in Ruszów. He was unsuccessful because residents scared him off. What is more, on the next street he broke into an outbuilding, from which he took the aforementioned small items.
The 30-year-old now faces up to 10 years in prison.
