“The plan is simple,” reads the website of the Ministry of National Defence. Women’s Self-Defense is a project offering free training sessions to be held in 30 Polish cities. The best military instructors will teach and show Polish women how to improve their self-defense skills and techniques so that, in the event of an unexpected attack or finding themselves in a situation threatening their personal safety, they will be able to deal with it.

The aim of the Women’s Self-Defense project is to popularize the Polish Armed Forces’ hand-to-hand combat training system among civilians, familiarize women with how close-contact hand-to-hand combat classes are conducted, teach basic self-defense techniques, and improve mastered holds and restraining techniques in the field of self-defense.

Each group of women will take part in a total of eight sessions, organized from November 2016 to June 2017, generally on the first Saturday of each month. In Bolesławiec County, the classes will be held in Świętoszów (Osiecznica municipality), on the grounds of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade (Sztabowa Street). More information
