This year, officers from the Legnica police headquarters conducted Operation Znicz for 5 days. The number of vehicles in the city increased, particularly around cemeteries, where traffic officers ensured smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
“We did not record a single road accident,” said Legnica officers. There were 23 road collisions in the county; two intoxicated drivers and one driver under the influence of drugs were arrested.
On Friday afternoon, on Wrocławska Street, a police officer from the Traffic Department noticed the driver of a Kia vehicle overtaking at a pedestrian crossing. The officer stopped the vehicle for inspection. The car was driven by a Moldovan citizen who had more than one per mille of alcohol in his system, and the vehicle did not have a valid technical inspection. The officers seized the vehicle registration certificate and detained the 30-year-old man, who now faces up to 2 years in prison.
