On Monday, October 31, at around 3:20 p.m., police officers noticed a man walking by who began behaving nervously and quickened his pace when he saw them. The man was known to the officers because earlier this year he had committed a series of property crimes in Kowary. These included thefts and burglaries. The officers noticed the stamp albums he was carrying. They suspected that the albums might have come from a crime. They decided to find out where he had obtained them.
While the officers were talking to him at the police station, a woman came to the station and reported that her house in Kowary had been burgled. It turned out that the thief had stolen two stamp albums and several copper pipes. The 31-year-old then confessed to the crime and added that he had already managed to sell the stolen pipes at a scrap-metal collection point.
The Kowary resident was detained in police custody. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
