On November 1, Lower Silesian police officers focused mainly on ensuring safety around cemeteries, which were visited in large numbers by residents paying their respects at the graves of loved ones. Officers from the prevention and criminal departments ensured safety around the necropolises. Wherever traffic arrangements had changed, traffic police officers were on duty. Officers reminded pedestrians that after dark, outside built-up areas, they are required to wear reflective elements. (Traffic police officers handed them out.)

On Tuesday evening, police officers expected the largest wave of return journeys, so their attention was directed to the main roads of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and places where the heaviest traffic was anticipated.

Since Friday, when Operation Znicz 2016 began, there have been 36 accidents in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in which 45 people were injured. Unfortunately, five people died. In addition, officers detained 91 drivers on the roads of our voivodeship who had decided to drive under the influence of alcohol. Police officers also carried out more than 5,700 interventions, detained 300 people caught committing crimes and detained more than 100 wanted persons.

No road accidents occurred in Zgorzelec County during Operation Znicz 2016. Officers recorded 27 road collisions. They also apprehended a driver under the influence of drugs. “In addition, we carried out 213 interventions, detained nine people caught committing crimes and five wanted persons,” said officers from the Zgorzelec County Police Headquarters.
