One of the principles of tactical operations is maintaining combat capability. This means that troops must constantly remain ready to engage in combat, carry out combat tasks and achieve the objective of operations with the fewest possible losses. “The logistics battalion is working to fully equip the mechanized battalion. To this end, the entire combat capability restoration area (ROZB) was divided into several points. After arriving in the area, subunits pass through all the points in a flow system. At specified intervals, each vehicle enters the next point, enabling us to fully equip and prepare the mechanized company in every respect to carry out further tasks,” says the acting commander of the repair company, Lieutenant Damian Moszczyński.

The combat capability restoration area (ROZB) includes such points as: a command point, organized to ensure the efficient progress of the combat capability restoration process; a decontamination area, located before the entrance to the ROZB and operated using specialized equipment and means of protection against weapons of mass destruction, based on the authorized equipment of the chemical platoon of the command battalion. To sort and assist the wounded and replenish medical supplies, the Medical Support Group established a medical point. A personnel replacement point is established to carry out tasks related to incorporating into the subunit’s structure soldiers who replace losses suffered in combat. The logistics battalion organized the following points: water and food replenishment—a place where supplies are restored; uniform issue; equipment servicing and repair—where individual assemblies and subassemblies are repaired, replenished and replaced, and unserviceable equipment is handed over for technical evacuation. Other points include an ammunition replenishment point, a refueling point, a bathing point, a rest area and an area where equipment waits after its combat capability has been restored. A protection and defense system is established around every combat capability restoration area to ensure security.

The logistics battalion’s execution of this undertaking is extremely important, as it enables the effective use of troops, prevents their excessive exhaustion and makes it possible to organize the operational system so that combat capability can be successively restored through appropriate logistical support.
