On Sunday, 25 May, the European Street Races Bolesławiec 2008 were held. The start and finish of the event were located at Popiełuszki Square. Everyone interested could take part in the competition, regardless of age, level of experience or place of residence.
Forty-six competitors took part in the children's race. The fastest over 400 m were Klaudia Rewaj from Nowogród and Bolesław Zalewski from the Primary School in Stare Bogaczowice. Over 800 m, the best were Beata Cieśla from the Primary School in Brzeźnik and Radosław Paradowski from KS Lechia Piechowice. Meanwhile, Natalia Sługocka and Radosław Pawłowski, both from Nowogród, completed the 1,200 m distance fastest.
In the overall standings, in their respective age categories, the winners were Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec Municipal Gymnasium No. 3.
Eighty-three competitors took part in the main race. In the overall standings, Agnieszka Jerzyk from Real 64-sto Leszno and Waldemar Glinka from GLKS Świdnica were unrivalled. The winners in the individual age categories were:
- Agnieszka Jerzyk from Real 64-sto Leszno – in category K16
- Mateusz Mikołajczak from Astra Nowa Sól – in category M16
- Ewa Grzesik from LKS Polkowice – in category K23
- Janusz Put from Wrocław – in category M20
- Ewa Szmel from KS Lechia Piechowice – in category K50
- Tomasz Sobczyk from LUKS Żórawina – in category M30
- Waldemar Glinka from GLKS Świdnica – in category M40
- Tadeusz Ławicki from Lubin – in category M50
- Henryk Załęski from WKB Piast Wrocław – in category M60
- Edward Kościak from Dęby Wałbrzych – in category M70.
The event was organised by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Bolesławiec. The European Street Races were co-financed by the Municipality of Bolesławiec, Tempo Finanse Sp. z o.o., BZM Cieśla and Meduza Garden Centre.
