Ocice, in the rural Bolesławiec municipality, hosted this year's County Sports and Firefighting Competition. On Sunday, October 7, ten volunteer fire service crews from across our county competed on the sports field in Ocice.
Firefighters from Zebrzydowa, Parowa, Wykroty, Trzebień, Wierzbowa, Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, Ławszowa, Ocice, Nowa Kuźnia and Brzeźnik competed in two skills-and-rescue events (the last team was not classified).
The firefighters competed in two events: a 7 x 50 m skills relay and a firefighting skills test. In the relay, competitors tackled obstacles including a balance beam, a water trench and a vertical wall. In the firefighting event, the individual teams had to correctly connect fire hoses, start a motor pump and direct a stream of water at precisely designated targets.
The overall competition standings were as follows:
- OSP Nowa Kuźnia, Gromadka municipality
- OSP Ławszowa, Osiecznica municipality
- OSP Gierałtów, Nowogrodziec municipality
The event was organized by the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service and the Rural Bolesławiec Municipality. The official part of the competition was attended by Bolesławiec County Head Cezary Przybylski, Gromadka Commune Head Dariusz Pawliszczy, Chairman of the Gromadka Municipal Council Ryszard Kawka, Mayor of the city and municipality of Nowogrodziec Robert Relich, Warta Bolesławiecka Commune Head Mirosław Haniszewski and Deputy Head of the Rural Bolesławiec Municipality Andrzej Dutkowski.
Grzegorz Kocon, County Commander of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, presented commemorative tableaux documenting the achievements of the fire service in our county to representatives of the local authorities. Commander Kocon also awarded Stanisław Kozioł of Gromadka the Cross of Merit for long-standing service.
The OSP team from Nowa Kuźnia will represent Bolesławiec County at the provincial-level competition. As a reward for winning the county competition, Gromadka Commune Head Dariusz Pawliszczy promised to equip the firefighters from Nowa Kuźnia with the necessary firefighting equipment.
