The “Volunteering: A Path to Activity” project is addressed to young people from Bolesławiec schools—lower-secondary and upper-secondary schools—who are interested in working on their personal development and opposed to indifference, nihilism, social immaturity, and irresponsibility for their opinions and behaviour. Experiences from 2002–2003 confirmed, moreover, the enormous potential of young people’s social sensitivity.
Stage I of the project
Following an information campaign in Bolesławiec schools, a meeting between the young people and the project leader has been planned. The meeting will be informational in nature. It will enable young people to clearly determine why they want to take part in the project. Those interested will be divided into two groups of up to 25 people. The workshop programme is planned to consist of three five-hour meetings.
The training will be conducted by Bogdan Szarawara (author and provider of educational programmes for teachers, parents and students covering addiction prevention, preventing violence and aggression, personal development, psychopedagogy and sociotherapy). Once the training cycle has ended, the workshop programme envisages continuing close cooperation with youth leaders, so that the knowledge they acquire and the skills they gain for functioning effectively in social relationships may properly serve the local community.
Stage II
The workshops will be led, among others, by:
- Krystyna Juszkiewicz – “Blues nad Bobrem” Association in Bolesławiec
- Rev. Józef Hupa – Parish community centre at the Parish of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bolesławiec
- Jadwiga Bobek – Friends of Children Society in Bolesławiec
- Danuta Zielińska – Polish Red Cross in Bolesławiec
- Ewa Zioła – Bolesławiec Volunteering Association “Pomocna dłoń” in Bolesławiec
- Alicja Krzyszczak, Dariusz Kwaśniewski, Cezariusz Rudyk – authors and providers of an international training programme for youth leaders.
The project is intended for students over 14 years of age—from the third year of lower-secondary school. The first meeting will be held on 26 September 2007 (Wednesday) at the PCEiKK headquarters in Bolesławiec:
- lower-secondary schools – 3:00 p.m.
- upper-secondary schools – 3:45 p.m.
The organisers ask all headteachers, school counsellors and form tutors to support this valuable initiative and help recruit participants for the training groups.
