Last week, the coach of first-division Cracovia Kraków visited Bolesławiec. Stefan Majewski took part in a meeting with coaches and footballers and gave a lecture on youth football training systems at European football clubs. The meeting was held in the conference room of the Centre for Supporting Entrepreneurship.

The Cracovia coach spoke about defensive systems, positioning and the play of forwards. He also discussed psychological factors in children’s training. In the coach’s view, youth football training should not be accompanied by pressure to achieve results. A coach should also not change the positions in which players play more than twice. Otherwise, a young footballer may lose motivation to play, thinking that they are not suited to any position. The Cracovia coach based his lecture on examples of training structures used at German and Italian clubs.

Stefan Majewski also drew attention to the discipline maintained at Western clubs. A player who breaks the rules for the third time must leave the club. Majewski also said that the habit of making “sideways” passes should be eliminated from training. In Majewski’s view, such a pass, when possession is lost, opens the way to the opponent’s goal. The Cracovia coach supports “diagonal” passes.

Unfortunately, the feat was not achieved by the juniors of Bolesławiecki Klub Sportowy Bobrzanie Bolesławiec. The Bolesławiec team lost 0–2 to the Cameroonians.
