The first meeting with volunteer candidates will take place at the festival club next Monday at 6:30 p.m.. The organizers are looking for 10 people aged 16 or over. “Volunteers will act as liaisons between workshop participants and lecturers,” explains Łukasz Molak, treasurer of the “Blues nad Bobrem” Association and formerly a volunteer himself. The duties of the 10 selected people will include, among other things, putting up signs around the city, helping to receive workshop participants, informing people unfamiliar with Bolesławiec where events are taking place, and even making coffee or tea. Of course, helping organize the festival has its advantages. “The advantage of volunteering is that every volunteer who conscientiously fulfills their duties will have free admission to all events,” says Łukasz Molak.
Blues is back!
All blues fans will surely be pleased to hear that the final concert is returning after many years! The lineup will include, among others, Nocna Zmiana Bluesa, Bartek Gruszecki Band, Dżem, JJ Band and the brilliant Czechs from -123 Min. It will also be the first concert to take place at the new amphitheater on Spacerowa Street. All this on August 14 for just PLN 20.
The eight-day workshops will begin earlier. The lecturers at the 17th edition of BnB will include such outstanding artists as Krystyna Prońko and Maciej Balcar (vocals), Leszek Cichoński (guitar), Tomasz Grabowy and Wojciech Pilichowski (bass), Bartosz Łęczycki and Roman Badeński (harmonica), Zdzisław Babiarski (keyboards), and Zbigniew Lewandowski (drums). There will also, of course, be jam sessions at the festival club and the 16th Blues Band Review, patronized by Tadeusz Nalepa, who died this year. The Review’s headliner will be the group The Twisters.
Does the “Blues nad Bobrem” Association have a chance to restore the festival to its former glory? Łukasz Molak has no doubt about it. “Next year, we will try to obtain funding from the European Union and turn Blues into an international event,” Łukasz Molak assures us.
