The first stage of construction has begun on an installation that will illuminate the tenement houses in Bolesławiec’s market square. The lighting fixtures will be installed in the pavements and powered by cables buried in the ground. The market square’s frontages will be illuminated by 94 70 W floodlights and 23 35 W floodlights. For now, only the ground floors of the tenement houses will be illuminated. The planned completion date for the works is 4 July. The contractor is Eltel Networks S.A. of Kostrzyn Wielkopolski.

A lighting design for the buildings’ upper floors is to be prepared later this year. It may be possible to obtain funding for this purpose from the European Union. As we learned unofficially, however, this will not happen earlier than in a year and a half.

The Bolesławiec historic monuments illuminated so far include: the Town Hall, the Kutuzov Monument, the Ceramics Museum on Mickiewicza Street, the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at Zamkowy Square, the Marian Sanctuary of the Assumption of the Mother of the Church, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary on Ceramiczna Street, the courthouse and the railway viaduct.
