From October 1, all drivers are required to drive with dipped-beam headlights switched on around the clock. The rationale and necessity of introducing this requirement are best demonstrated by tests—in their view, if drivers used dipped-beam headlights throughout the year, the number of fatal accidents could fall by as much as 25%.
It is worth switching on the headlights not only to avoid a fine—which amounts to PLN 100 and two penalty points—but also for the safety of yourself and other road users. A well-lit car is visible from a greater distance, and it is also easier to determine the speed at which it is traveling. Drivers must remember to switch on their dipped-beam headlights until March.
