The accident occurred after 5:00 p.m. at the 80th kilometre of the A18 motorway near Szczytnica. The driver of a Golf station wagon travelling towards Wrocław crossed the median and collided with a van, a Volkswagen Transporter. The Golf driver died at the scene. Firefighters from Bolesławiec had to cut open the van to extract the other injured driver.
The cause of the accident is not yet known. The Golf driver probably fell asleep at the wheel.
