Since Friday, the media—both local and nationwide—have been abuzz. They reported that content verifiers from Lower Silesia and Opole Voivodeship (that is, those who check papers after the examiners) had rebelled and had not signed their contracts. The issue was pay. Verifiers will receive almost PLN 10 gross less per paper than examiners. This rate applies throughout the country. Nevertheless, many Polish-language teachers from Lower Silesian and Opole Voivodeships did not accept these terms.
As Director Małecki told us, there is not a single verifier in Bolesławiec. He admitted that, indeed, many eligible people had not signed contracts, but there were not enough of them to affect the deadline for checking and returning the papers in any way. Last year, verifiers worked only on weekends. This year, to finish on time, they will also have to work during the week.
