Officers from the County Police Headquarters in Lubin, together with officers from the Independent Police Prevention Unit in Legnica, detained five people suspected of violating the bodily integrity of and insulting police officers, throwing dangerous objects at them, attacking security staff, and failing to follow the orders issued by the latter.
As soon as Lechia Gdańsk supporters arrived, local hooligans sought a confrontation with them. Masked hooligans attempted to attack the convoy of passing cars. Decisive police action prevented a brawl.
What is more, during the half-time break, both local and visiting hooligans attempted to enter the sections occupied by supporters of the opposing teams. The police also prevented a confrontation in this case. As a result of action taken by officers from Lubin and Legnica, five football hooligans were placed in police custody.
The detainees are residents of Lubin and Polkowice counties, aged between 20 and 33. They will now answer for their actions before a court. Police officers are carrying out further activities aimed at identifying and detaining additional hooligans who broke the law.
