Soldiers of the 2nd mechanized company of SON of the 10th Dragon Mechanized Battalion, commanded by Lieutenant Artur Turek, began joint operations with allies from the 3rd mechanized company of the German 401st Mechanized Battalion.
On Tuesday, the Polish and German forces had already conducted joint firing exercises from infantry fighting vehicles—the Polish side using BWP vehicles and the German side using Marders. The allied cooperation was supported by 120 mm mortars from the support company of the Świętoszów mechanized battalion. Soldiers under the command of Second Lieutenant Przemysław Blady carried out live-fire tasks in practice.
As part of the joint exercises, the battalions will also conduct, among other activities, tactical training, troop movement and deployment exercises, and will improve elements of combat support and operations in specific combat environments. Fire training will also be included: fire control, preparatory exercises from a combat vehicle, and small-arms training.
Through cooperation, the soldiers have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the equipment, weapons and gear of their allies. The culmination of the Polish-German activities will be participation in the Borsuk-16 exercise, during which tank crews from the 1st Tank Battalion will also join the German 401st Mechanized Battalion.
Joint activities at training grounds, tactical lanes and firing ranges will result in an exchange of experience and enable the soldiers to become familiar with the procedures used by allies from across the western border.
