On Monday, October 10, from the early morning hours, officers conducted preventive and enforcement operations called “Sober Morning” on the roads of our voivodeship. The officers checked whether people travelling by car or motorcycle were sober. During the operation, officers checked nearly 9,000 drivers within several hours (325 checks took place in Bolesławiec County).
Police officers from the Bolesławiec traffic unit detained 5 drivers who got into their vehicles after drinking alcohol. Two of them were drunk, while three had consumed alcohol but were below the criminal intoxication threshold. In Lower Silesia, 35 drivers were detained for driving over the alcohol limit (including 16 who were drunk). Those 16 face up to 2 years in prison.
