On Saturday, October 1, the duty officer at the Police Station in Bogatynia received a report that a grandson had robbed his 68-year-old grandmother. Local police officers determined that the 23-year-old had come to visit his grandmother but did not find her at home, so he decided to wait for her outside the block of flats. When the woman returned from shopping, her grandson demanded PLN 50 and her mobile phone. The elderly woman refused and entered the stairwell. Her grandson followed her. On the first floor, he suddenly began pulling at her handbag, trying to snatch it. The elderly woman lost her balance and fell. The grandson then kicked her in the face, snatched her handbag, tore a gold chain from her neck and fled.
The 23-year-old was arrested. He faces up to 12 years in prison. At the request of the police and the prosecutor’s office, the court remanded the aggressor in custody for three months.
