Below we present the statement of the Regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Szczecin:

In connection with the incident involving a severe esophageal burn suffered by a man who consumed 0.5-liter bottles of highly carbonated Żywioł Żywiec Zdrój water marked with batch numbers S 08/08/08:49/3/1 and S 20/04/11:04/3/1, produced at the Żywiec Zdrój SA plant located at 71 Sprzymierzonych Street, 78-650 Mirosławiec, the State Provincial Sanitary Inspector in Szczecin informs that the results of tests conducted on counter-samples from the aforementioned batches of water, collected on 22 September 2016 at the production stage and from current production, are normal with regard to the physicochemical and microbiological parameters examined.

Let us recall: the investigation findings to date indicate that Maciej Z. consumed a small amount of colorless liquid in the evening hours of 21 September this year from a bottle bearing a “Żywioł Żywiec Zdrój” label. As a result, he was taken to hospital, where he received medical assistance.

At the apartment where the injured man was staying, 11 bottles of “Żywioł Żywiec Zdrój” mineral water were secured. The water was highly carbonated, came in 0.5-liter bottles, and bore the batch marking S:08/08:49/3/1. One bottle from batch S:20/04/11:04/3/1 was also secured.

According to a statement by Maciej Z.’s father, Eugeniusz, he purchased the entire multipack on the same day at one of the stores in Bolesławiec.
