On September 22, police officers from the Department for Combating Crime of the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters arrested two men from Jelenia Góra, aged 39 and 45, who are suspected of fraud and document forgery.
According to investigators, the men, who worked in the steel trading industry, used forged documents in an attempt to cause one of the companies in Germany to dispose of its property to its detriment. The men from Jelenia Góra repeatedly contacted the owners of the defrauded company by telephone and email, pretended to be the owner of a well-known company from Jelenia Góra, and attempted to defraud them of sheet metal worth PLN 160,000.
They did not achieve their intended goal—they were arrested and placed in police custody. Both men from Jelenia Góra now face up to eight years in prison.
