This year’s edition was attended in large numbers by students of Municipal School Complex No. 1 and Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 2. This year, students, teachers and invited guests read Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novel “Quo Vadis”. This year’s edition refers to the Year of Henryk Sienkiewicz established by the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland – 2016 marks the 170th anniversary of the writer’s birth and the 100th anniversary of his death.
The National Reading initiative takes place under the patronage of the Presidential Couple. National Reading was first held in 2012. At that time, Adam Mickiewicz’s “Pan Tadeusz” was read, followed in subsequent years by works by Aleksander Fredro, Henryk Sienkiewicz and Bolesław Prus.
