The anniversary of the founding of the Różyniec Volunteer Fire Service falls on 3 May, the eve of Firefighters’ Day. This year, the occasion for celebration was particularly special, as the firefighters from Różyniec were marking their 60th anniversary. St Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, provided beautiful weather. The event at the Różyniec sports field began with a solemn Mass, followed by a welcome for the invited guests – Deputy Bolesławiec County Head Stanisław Chwojnicki, Chairwoman of the City Council Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk and Gromadka Commune Head Dariusz Pawliszczy. People who had distinguished themselves in service to the Volunteer Fire Service received commemorative diplomas that day from representatives of the Volunteer Fire Service Board.
After the official part, a professional firefighters’ orchestra and Familia, a folk group from Jaśkowice Legnickie, performed for those gathered. Without a doubt, the most interesting part of the event was a demonstration of the rescue and firefighting skills of fire service crews, featuring a firefighting aircraft and a specialised firefighting vehicle. Although the aircraft failed to extinguish the burning target, one of the firefighters quickly corrected the machine’s mistake.
During the festival, participants had the opportunity to sample local specialities, including the deservedly famous roast pork. The event was organised by the Volunteer Fire Service in Różyniec, the Gromadka Commune Culture and Sports Centre, and the Gromadka Commune Head.
