The aim of the competition is to identify and promote the best and most creative examples of residents’ activities in rural areas. Based on the premise that healthy competition and rivalry founded on good examples produce the best results, the competition encourages villages to mobilise and carry out projects that otherwise would not have been created or would have been implemented on a much smaller scale.
Representatives of the Marshal’s Office, the Lower Silesian Agricultural Advisory Centre in Wrocław, the Lower Silesian Chamber of Agriculture, and academic staff from the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences and the University of Wrocław took part in the work of the competition committee appointed by Marshal of the Voivodeship Cezary Przybylski. Committee members visited all the nominated villages and projects and assessed them on that basis. The winners of this year’s competition in the “most beautiful village” category were:
- Chełmsko Śląskie, Lubawka municipality
- Ławszowa, Osiecznica municipality
- Kletno, Stronie Śląskie municipality.
As we read on the website of the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, both Ławszowa and Kletno are “characterised by the extraordinary activity of their residents and the maximum use of their main assets for development. Each of them has found its own idea: Ławszowa is a Forest Village on the Kwisa, while Kletno is a tiny oasis of peace for those seeking relaxation”.
