The incident occurred during the night of September 3–4. Officers from the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec were called to assist an ambulance crew. Upon arriving at the scene, they found that the man who had called the ambulance was probably under the influence of intoxicating substances and wanted to drive away. Further police findings confirmed that the 33-year-old resident of Zgorzelec had been driving a car aimlessly for several hours after taking psychotropic substances.

It also turned out that the 33-year-old did not have a driving licence. Knowing that he would be arrested and wanting to avoid criminal responsibility, the man tried to persuade the police officers to discontinue their official actions and attempted to offer them a €50 bribe. He could now face up to 10 years in prison.
