Police officers from the Criminal Team of Police Station II identified and detained a 38-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County suspected of theft. The incident occurred in August this year in one of the apartments in Jelenia Góra. A long-unseen acquaintance came to visit the apartment’s owner. The 38-year-old took advantage of the hostess’s moment of inattention and stole from her handbag: her identity card, driving licence, vehicle registration certificate, car keys, money, credit cards, and her husband’s identity card. She left the apartment shortly afterward. She threw some of the stolen items (the documents) into the river and bushes.
Police identified the perpetrator just a few hours after the incident. She confessed to the theft. The victims’ total losses amounted to several hundred zlotys. The detained 38-year-old could face up to five years in prison.
