Police officers from the police station in Karpacz identified and detained a 29-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. During the night of 2–3 August, the man first broke into one house, stealing a bicycle, two hiking backpacks and clothing, and then broke into a nearby house under construction, from which he stole copper gutters and construction tools. However, he was unable to carry away the stolen property because a resident of one of the burgled houses, returning from work at that moment, scared off the perpetrator. He abandoned his loot and fled, dropping his mobile phone in the process.

Using the perpetrator’s phone, police officers established that both burglaries had been committed by a 29-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. The detainee confessed to the crime. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
