On 5 August 2016, a ceremonial assembly marking Police Day was held in the Forum cinema hall at BOK-MCC in Bolesławiec. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Voivodeship Police Commander in Wrocław, Insp. Piotr Leciejewski, invited guests and the families of the promoted officers.
The Bolesławiec Police Day celebrations began with a Holy Mass for police officers and their families at the Minor Basilica. A ceremonial ceremony marking the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the State Police was held in the Forum cinema hall at BOK-MCC in Bolesławiec, attended by Bolesławiec Deputy County Head Marian Haniszewski, Mayor Piotr Roman, representatives of local governments, institutions and uniformed services.
Insp. Henryk Stefanko, County Police Commander in Bolesławiec, opened the ceremony by welcoming the guests, congratulating the officers on their promotions to higher ranks and thanking the officers’ families for their support and understanding. Insp. Henryk Stefanko also thanked the local governments for their good cooperation and financial support for the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.
During the ceremony, the County Police Commander in Bolesławiec presented flowers to Mrs Helena Kowal, the daughter of a police officer killed in Ostashkov, and to Mrs Genowefa Sikorska, the mother of a police officer killed in the line of duty.
On the occasion of Police Day, 55 Bolesławiec officers were promoted to higher ranks. Four police officers received decorations from police trade unions. During the ceremony, distinctions from the trade union of civilian employees were presented to Anna Klim and Agnieszka Świętocka. During the ceremonial assembly, the guests also spoke, extending their best wishes to the police officers and expressing their appreciation for the difficult work of police service.
After the ceremony, the County Police Commander in Bolesławiec and the officers laid flowers beneath the plaque commemorating Bolesławiec police officer Senior Sergeant Dariusz Chełkowski, who was shot and killed while on duty.
On 9 August, during the Lower Silesian Police Day celebrations, another distinction will be presented to a Bolesławiec police officer: Warrant Officer Wojciech Jaskot will receive the Bronze Distinguished Police Officer Badge.
