The incident occurred on July 2, at around 4:30 a.m. Guards patrolling the area noticed smoke rising from one of the allotments and three people fleeing it. After a short pursuit, they apprehended a 31-year-old homeless woman. The fire brigade and police were called to the scene. The woman was handed over to the police officers. The shed could not be saved.
This was not the only garden-shed fire in the past week. On Friday, July 1, an unknown person or persons set fire to a shed on Działkowicza Street. A Municipal Guard patrol noticed heavy smoke on Konstytucji 3 Maja Street. The guards immediately went there and called the firefighters.
Despite the swift intervention, the shed burned down completely. Everything indicates deliberate arson or accidental ignition, as the entrance gate to the allotment had been damaged.
