The end of the school year at the Complex of General and Vocational Schools in Bolesławiec was an opportunity to summarize the first stage of project activities carried out under the Power programme on Erasmus+ principles (Foreign internship – an effective method of developing the vocational and social competences of technical school students). The project coordinator was Edyta Gorczyca, while the supporting coordinator was Dorota Biernat.

Students from the third year of the hotel management technical school and the technical school of nutrition and catering services completed internships at hotels and catering establishments in Chemnitz. The idea behind the project was to equip young people with new vocational and language skills. In accordance with the internship programme, the students attended classes with German employers, improving their qualifications, and took part in numerous vocational study visits.

Integration meetings and trips to Leipzig and Dresden were organized at weekends. Before departing, everyone took part in 50 hours of language and cultural-pedagogical preparation.

On 24 June 2016, the first group of project participants received international Europass Mobility certificates in Polish and English, confirming their specialist vocational skills. The certificates were presented by Laura Słocka-Przydróżna, the school principal, and Zenon Broszko, a representative of the supporting partner, Kliczków Castle.

Local employers and the students’ parents were also present at the ceremony. The participants presented a multimedia account of their stay and demonstrated their newly acquired skills live by preparing a delicious omelette according to a recipe brought from Germany. “We hope that the knowledge and skills acquired will create new development opportunities not only for the participants, but for the entire ZSOiZ community,” said ZSOiZ teachers.

Participants from the technical school of economics and the technical school of advertising organization will receive their certificates in September.
