In May, the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. majora Henryka Sucharskiego in Bolesławiec joined the “Ten Squats for Zosia” campaign. Its aim was to show support for a student who is undergoing rehabilitation after a serious accident and fighting to regain her mobility. However, the school community did not want its involvement to end with merely a symbolic gesture.
Therefore, the student council took on the coordination of an additional initiative—a collection of deposit-return packaging. Over the following weeks, students brought in bottles and cans, turning small everyday actions into real support.
The campaign concluded on the last day of the school year. That was when the collected amount earmarked for Zosia’s rehabilitation was donated.
More than a thousand packages contributed to the result. Each of them was not only a financial contribution, but also a sign of kindness, solidarity and readiness to help.
Behind the school initiative is the dramatic story of a young student at a technical school of surveying. Until recently, Zosia had been preparing for exams, attending practical training and planning her future. However, on her way to practical training, she was hit at a pedestrian crossing. The teenager suffered numerous, extremely serious injuries.
Today, Zosia is undergoing intensive and expensive rehabilitation. Every day is another stage in the fight to regain her mobility and return to normal life. The support coming from schools is not only symbolic, but also helps publicize her story.
