The break-in took place during the day, when the church was open. Police secured CCTV footage, in which they recognized a 23-year-old man from Legnica who had already been convicted of this type of crime. The man was detained.
He faces up to 10 years in prison for the offense. The sentence may be increased because the suspect acted as a repeat offender. Investigators established that, between March and June 2016, the detainee committed eight other thefts and break-ins.
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica placed the 23-year-old under police supervision.
