Police officers from the Independent Police Prevention Unit in Legnica were on duty in the Lubin municipality. At around 8:00 p.m., they noticed an off-road vehicle in one of the localities. When its driver saw the police car, he suddenly accelerated.
The officers followed him, giving clear light and sound signals ordering him to stop. To no avail. At one point, the man turned onto an unpaved road and then into a forest. The off-road vehicle he was driving became stuck in the mud, so the driver jumped out and tried to flee on foot. However, he was quickly arrested by the police.
It turned out that the off-road vehicle driven by the 18-year-old resident of Polkowice had been stolen in Głogów at the end of May this year. The man was taken into police custody. He faces up to 10 years behind bars.
