The ceremony opened with a performance by Katarzyna Rzepka, who sang the Amazons’ anthem. There were also congratulations and best wishes from local government officials. The Amazons received a camera from the Municipal Gmina and a clock from Gmina Bolesławiec.
Maciej Pronkiewicz, deputy head of the Department of Education and Promotion of the County, read a letter from Bolesławiec County Head Dariusz Kwaśniewski. “Today I no longer have to put myself in your situation; disability is something I am partly fighting and partly trying to live with. I know one thing: your words that one must never give up give me strength,” the county head wrote.
The ceremony was also an opportunity to honor friends of the Bolesławiec Amazons Club. Among those receiving the highest distinction—statuettes—were, among others, mayor Piotr Roman, county head Dariusz Kwaśniewski, head of Gmina Bolesławiec Andrzej Dutkowski, head of Ziemia Bolesławiecka Jan Cołokidzi, president of Bolesławiec’s PWiK Józef Król, director of the Museum of Ceramics Anna Bober-Tubaj and head of BOK-MCC Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska. Former SLD MP Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska was also among those honored.
Moreover, Władysława Kotlarek, the BKA’s longtime president, received the Ruby Bow for an active leader from Łucja Werblińska, deputy head of the Federation of “Amazonki” Associations, from Poznań.
The ceremony was enhanced by performances from the Nocturn and Modus dance groups, singers Eliza Sondaj and Magdalena Cichorzewska (students of BOK-MCC), as well as the Mały Bolesławiec Song and Dance Ensemble from MDK, directed by Anna Idkowiak. The gala was hosted by Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska.
We wish our Amazons a hundred years!
