The project is carried out by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund under the Knowledge Education Development Operational Programme. Bolesławiec Voluntary Labour Corps was invited to participate in the initiative by Agnieszka Astramowicz, the project coordinator from the OHP Youth Education and Labour Centre in Jelenia Góra.

Two groups of ten young people from the OHP were selected to participate in the internship. The group from the Bolesławiec Voluntary Labour Corps will take part in the internship until 4 June this year. The students are supervised on a daily basis by senior HP educator Jacek Nesler, and develop their skills in German businesses in the town of Borna.

Classes for the young people are organised by German supervisors and vocational instructors. They are far from ordinary, as they involve practical work. The young people are learning the culinary profession from foreign specialists. Under the instructors’ supervision, the students prepare meals every day. They learn techniques for cooking, frying, baking and preparing sweet desserts. In addition, they put their theoretical knowledge of professional customer service in a restaurant into practice.

There is also active leisure, which fills their free time after working hours. The young people have the opportunity to explore the place where they are staying, as well as nearby attractions.

At the end of the project, the young people from the HP will receive certificates confirming that they completed an internship in Germany. For them, this is a great opportunity to gain additional experience, which will make it easier to navigate the labour market when they finish school and obtain vocational qualifications.
